Between the weeks ending 28 August and 11 September 2021:

• Payroll jobs, down 0.7%
• Total wages paid, up 1.8%

During 2018-19 there were:

• 20.1 million job relationships, up 2.9% on 2017-18
• 14.1 million employed persons, up 2.4% on 2017-18

Payroll jobs:

• up 0.2% in the fortnight up to 25 September 2021
• down 0.6% in the previous fortnight (to 11 September 2021)

The seasonally adjusted estimates for the August 2021 quarter are as follows:

• Total job vacancies were 333,700, a decrease of 9.8% from May 2021.
• Private sector vacancies were 302,400, a decrease of 10.9% from May 2021.
• Public sector vacancies were 31,300, an increase of 2.3% from May 2021.

During the year ending February 2021:

• 975,000 or 7.5% of employed people changed jobs, the lowest annual job mobility rate on record
• Job mobility remained highest for professionals, at 21% of those who changed jobs
• 1.8 million people left or lost a job
